Drop Everything and Read

We all know how important reading is to the success of students. At Willow Oaks we encourage reading in many ways. Drop Everything and Read is an important way that we take time for students to read.

The people at Drop Everything and Read believe that reading, whether you’re on your own or cozied up on the couch with your kids, is so much more fun and rewarding than just about anything else (especially, chores!). So, they tell folks of all ages to “drop” what they’re doing and pick up a book, instead.

One of the most important things that parents can do to encourage reading, is to read to your children every day. Ask your child to describe a book that they enjoyed reading that day. We all can provide a role model for children by letting them see us read.
