SCS is proud to announce the upcoming Virtual Family Forum: Recruitment, Summer Literacy and Community Resources, taking place Saturday, May 22, 2021, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

SCS Family Forums provide an opportunity for all parents to gather, learn and share important information to support student learning and success in school. Click the following links to join the live virtual sessions on Microsoft Teams.

Breakout Session 1: 10:25 am – 11:10 am

  • Engaging Children in Meaningful Conversation During Story Time *LIVE Teams Event
    • In this session, parents will learn how to create engaging conversations during story time. Parents will be given question examples and question stems.
  • RTI2: Supporting Students Learning with Edgenuity (High School) *LIVE Teams Event
    • In this session, parents will learn how the Edgenuity online learning tool is used in SCS with Response to Instruction & Intervention (RTI2) to support reading and math interventions for students in grades 9-12. Information will be provided on how Edgenuity provides students and teachers with online learning solutions to improve academic achievement. Parents will also be provided information on how they can help their child succeed by monitoring student progress and supporting learning within the Edgenuity platform.
  • Summer Literacy – Baptist Memorial Healthcare
    • In this session Baptist Memorial Healthcare will discuss Summer Literacy Resources.

Breakout Session 2: 11:15 am – 12:00 pm

  • Social-Emotional Learning for Families *LIVE Teams Event
    • Shelby County Schools and Rethink Ed have partnered to provide you with access to videos and activities to support you and your child’s social and emotional well-being. You will have access to strategies and tools that will help you and your child recognize and manage emotions, build stronger relationships, and develop skills to lead happier and healthier lives.
  • Public Storm Water Awareness Education and Environmental Literacy *Regular Teams Meeting
    • This session will provide Storm Water Awareness Education and introduce Environmental Literacy and Stewardship.
