To support your school-based induction and succession plan, please note this opportunity to pipeline staff to the teaching profession. Relay Graduate School of Education, in partnership with SCS’s Aspiring Teachers Program, is continuing its partnership with the Relay Memphis Teaching Residency to provide aspiring and novice teachers with a clear pathway into a career as a highly effective teacher in Memphis.
This program is open to non-licensed educators who are current employees of Shelby County Schools, including educational, Pre-K, and SPED assistants and highly specialized education assistants. To be eligible, candidates must already hold a bachelor’s degree and must be willing and able to meet the requirements of the Residency program. If you would like to submit a recommendation for an aspiring teacher, please fill out this form.
If you have multiple educators at your building that you would like to recommend, please fill out one form for each candidate.

To obtain tenure, a teacher must meet the eligibility requirements outlined under Tennessee law.
To meet LOE requirements for tenure, a teacher must have acquired an LOE score of 4 or 5 during the most recent two (2) years of available evaluation scores achieved during the probationary period.
Please reference the FAQ provided by the Tennessee Department of Education. It details both eligibility requirements (question 1) and provides guidance related to the option to nullify a teacher’s LOE for the 2020-2021 academic year and the potential impact of nullification upon tenure eligibility. (pages 2-4).
The deadline to complete all NIE Mid-Year Conferences in PLZ is February 11.
