Official AMO Targets

The state has released AMOs for the current school year. For most indicators (e.g., chronic absenteeism), AMOs and double AMOs are being calculated using the same method as previous years. However for the achievement (success rate) AMOs, the state is considering two different methods, and potential AMOs resulting from both methods are included in a file which can be found on here

**Please note that access to this SharePoint folder is restricted to a limited number of people at each school, typically the principal and Building Testing Coordinator. However, these individuals can download the file and share with others at the school as needed.

  • The file includes a district tab (SCS AMOs) and a school tab (School Level AMOs) at the bottom, so you will need to select the school tab to see your school’s AMOs.
  • “Success Rate – 2021 Data” refers to the traditional achievement indicator AMO method that uses the most recent year’s results as the baseline. “Success Rate -Alternate” refers to an alternate method the state is considering that uses adjusted 2019 rates as the baseline. The state legislature will determine the method used.
  • This year, the one-year success rate AMOs are based on the percent of On Track or Mastered results, using ELA and math.
  • For most schools, the difference between the AMOs produced by the two methods is small. In some cases, the alternate method produces easier to reach goals than the traditional method using 2021 results as the baseline.
  • In addition to AMOs, double AMOs are also provided. Reaching AMOs earns a “3” in the model, whereas reaching a double AMO earns a “4”.
  • Recently official state achievement AMOs have been based on one-year success rates that are calculated by combining multiple subjects and multiple grades. Therefore, we no longer get official AMOs for individual subjects or individual grades. However, the Assessment and Accountability Department has also produced unofficial AMOs that provide AMOs by subject and grade level. These unofficial AMOs are not part of the state’s accountability model but may be useful for planning and setting goals and are available in a separate subfolder within the same 2021-2022 AMO folder.
  • Also, please remember that these one-year success rates are different from the three-year success rates that are used to determine if a school will be placed on the Priority List. The three-year success rate may include science in addition to ELA and math. We have not received an accountability protocol document from the state yet detailing how the three-year success rate will be calculated this year.
