Truancy: Parent Student Attendance Plan

Schools must enter the required information in the Parent-Student Attendance Plan (PSAP). We must show that appropriate interventions have been provided for the truant student/family per state law and district policy. Failure to add this information can prevent the cases of excessively absent students from being presented before a judge. The following must be entered in the Plan Hypothesis/Goal of the intervention plan.

  • Challenges or barriers the student/parent is experiencing
  • Specific services provided
  • Who will be responsible for implementing services
  • If any services require mental or physical health services, this information should not be entered to ensure confidentiality.

Contact Thomasena Stuckett at stucketttd@scsk12.org for any questions.

Policy 6046 Reminders

As it pertains to Bullying, Harassment, Title IX incidents, and students' safety, all staff members are mandatory reporters. All allegations must be investigated within 48 hours of an administrator being notified, and all other staff members, once informed, have 24 hours to report an allegation to their administrator.

Finally, be mindful of the hot spots on your campus. These are usually the areas where incidents most often occur. Please remain vigilant as we get closer to the end of the school year.

An action does not have to be continuous or repeated to be considered bullying. A single incident or act may be considered BULLYING and must be investigated immediately.

If you have any questions or need assistance, contact Mr. Cory Dickerson dickersoncl@scsk12.org, 416-7374, Dr. Alvin Harris harrisae1@scsk12.org 416-7391, Chanda Jones Donald jonesdonaldcr@scsk12.org, 416-9848, and District Title IX Coordinator Mary Tucker, tuckermh@scsk12.org, 416-5417

Drug Candies/Edibles

It has come to our attention that illegal substances that contain cannabis and THC (illegal substances within marijuana) are now being explicitly manufactured to capture the attention and entice our younger populations. Packages are beginning to take on the appearance of fruit candies and other snack flavors that are nearly identical to regular snack packages. It is now more critical than ever before that administrators take proactive strategies to alert our students and parents to the detrimental effects, discipline penalties, and existence of these camouflaged illegal substances.

Proactive strategies from school administrators are not limited to but may include:

  • Intercom Announcement reminders
  • Student assemblies
  • Memos to parents and students

Please see the images to familiarize yourself and the school population with this new trend. The use, possession, and distribution of drugs remain a state-mandated 180-day suspension offense.

Contact SEED at 901-416-6007 if you need further discipline guidance.

2021-2022 TNReady Items Released

This release comprises content and grade level PDFs, and each item is presented as it would appear in paper test booklets with all answer choices. Included for each item is metadata such as Item Type, Key, and Standard alignment. These items were administered on Spring 2021 TCAP assessments.

This release represents the renewal of the TDOE annual item release that was paused with the COVID-related cancellation of assessments in Spring 2020. These item releases provide stakeholder visibility into the makeup of TCAP assessments and item expectations.

These items will also be made available in Schoolnet for formative use by educators.

Advanced Course Planning

Updated files containing student data for planning advanced courses have been placed in each high school's 2021-22 Ready Graduate High School Planning Meetings folder on SharePoint. An email will be sent soon to high school principals to sign up for these sessions. Also, parents of students who will be automatically enrolled in honors courses and eligible for enrollment in other advanced courses will receive emails informing them of this status over the next few days. A copy of the notification message has also been placed in your school's planning folder. School counselors may get questions, so please share this information with them.
