AOSS Protocol - School Threats via Social Media and Other Electronic Means

Greetings Principals,

Effective steps to ensure the safety of students and staff should be taken when schools hear about threats through social media or other electronic means.  The AOSS Manual provides schools with guidance to use when handling  Threats via Social Media and Other Electronic Means. Please familiarize yourself with this information and share it with your team.

2022-23 Professional Learning Hours

Teachers are required to fulfill at least 64 professional learning hours during the 2022-2023 school year.   Hours are broken down into 21 hours for District Learning Days; 23 hours for required school-based in-service days and other school based professional learning opportunities; and 20 choice hours.

This information is available in infographic format in the monthly Professional Learning Catalog published by PL&S.  The April edition is linked here

You should prepare to discuss with educators their total professional learning hours accrued for this school year during the TEM Professionalism Conference. You can use your discretion to amend the total hours based on time worked.  For example, an employee who was on FMLA for the entire first semester would not be expected to fulfill 64 total hours nor would an employee who has a March hire/start date.  Keep in mind that the Literacy Success Act Training required for specific license types will not appear on the PLZ transcript and will be available on a TDOE certificate of completion provided by the educator.
