Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month

The month of May is recognized nationally as Mental Health Awareness Month. In an effort to bring awareness to our students and school communities the Mental Health Center has planned a number of activities for the month. Some of the activities involve student and faculty participation. Please see flyers for the MSCS MHC Art Contest and Action Day. Thursday, May 16 will be Mental Health Action Day.

Additionally, the MHC would like to have a Mental Health Moments added to the morning announcements. The assigned school clinicians will also be contacting principals about these events. We are also asking that students and staff recognize the month by wearing green on Mondays.

Attendance Procedures and Reminders
  • Maintaining regular attendance throughout the academic year is a critical factor in student achievement on standardized assessments. Being present allows students to master the material and participate in test-taking strategies practiced in class. Let's continue to emphasize the importance of regular attendance and work collaboratively to ensure a strong finish to the school year!
  • School administrators must ensure teachers record attendance daily and input grades in Power Teacher Pro. Do Not use paper forms.
  • School office staff should process and reconcile daily attendance codes submitted by teachers.
  • Each school should have an attendance administrator who can assist and verify the accuracy of attendance data.
  • Please contact Mildred Avery at 416-6007 with any questions.
