New 4th Year Math Course Offering

Greetings secondary math leaders,

Bridge Math and Applied Math Concepts are 4th-year courses that have been retired by the state of Tennessee. MSCS will be offering Mathematical Reasoning for Decision Making during the 24-25 school year. Feel free to use the demo account below to explore the textbook while resources are being secured for purchase. Please be reminded that teachers should not make edits or upload students to this account. They will have access to those features once individual licenses are assigned.

SY2024-2025 TEM Observer Certification

TEM Certification SY2024-25:According to Tennessee State Board of Education Policy5.201, all educators must be evaluated annually by a certified evaluator.  

For SY2024-25, there are three options offered in attaining TEM Certification:  

- Returning Observers   

  • Self-Paced (Canvas) - Manual Registration ONLY 

- New Observers 

  • Canvas Self-Paced 
  • 2-Day Live Virtual Session

 *Note: ALL Returning Observer participants must complete their TEM coursework and calibration by August 30.

SY2024-2025 NIE Evaluator Certification

The NIE Self-Paced Recertification window for the 2024-2025 school year opened June 12Identified Returning NIE Evaluators who were certified during the 2023-24 school year were automatically placed in the Recertification Self-Paced course in Canvas. Therefore, self-registration is not necessary and will not be accessible in PLZ.  

  • Please check your Canvas dashboard for this course.  

NEW NIE Evaluators  

Registration is open to Evaluators that are NEW to the Non-Instructional Evaluation process. For SY2024-25, there are 2 options offered in attaining NIE Evaluator Certification.

State Evaluator Training : TEAM Evaluator Training

The State is excited to announce that TEAM training is transitioning to the TeachALL platform. This transition will make accessing TEAM trainings simpler and more user-friendly. TeachALL features include: 

  • No more hassle with course registrations! 
    • With TeachALL, evaluators can now self-enroll in initial evaluator courses at their convenience. 
    • Certified evaluators will continue to receive a recertification email with log in information.  
  • Upon completion of certification courses and passing assessments, TeachALL automatically awards you with a certificate, that will automatically connect to TNCompass to upload your credentials. 

TeachALL is an intuitive and user-friendly platform designed to empower evaluators. The new platform is easy to access with your Single Sign On (SSO).   

  • Recertification courses are open from June 3, 2024, to August 31, 2024.  
  • Initial certification courses are open from June 3, 2024, to March 31, 2025.

Leadership Institute (Principals): July 15-17 @ Bellevue Baptist Church

Memphis-Shelby County Schools Leadership Institute will take place July 15-19, 2024, at Bellevue Baptist Church, located at 2000 Appling Rd, Cordova, TN38016. The theme for this year's Leadership Institute is "Learn. Lead. Leave a Legacy." The event is designed to equip both emerging and established leaders with essential tools and knowledge to drive continuous improvement in educational leadership.

School leaders (Principals, Vice/Assistant Principals/Deans of Students/High School Counselors) will attend July 15 – 17, 2024

ARRIVAL PROCEDURES DAY-TO-DAY SCHEDULE

Participants of the 2024 Leadership Institute should park in the west parking lot on Appling Road, accessible from I-40 Exit 15 Southbound. Upon arrival, proceed to the check-in area in the West Lobby.

 

Schedule:

  • Monday, July 15, 2024: The day starts for leaders at 8:00 AM in the Worship Center.
  • Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and Wednesday, July 17, 2024:  The day begins with breakout sessions.
  • Wednesday, July 17, 2024: Superintendent’s Address to leaders and new teachers/Specialized Education Assistants in the Worship Center.

 

Light breakfast refreshments will be served daily. Lunch will be on your own.

Leadership Institute is a TASL-approved. Leaders can receive up to 19 hours of TASL credit. In order to receive credit for your learning, please ensure that you sign-in and complete the survey for all the sessions that you attend.

Kindergarten and First Grade Bus Riders

Kindergarten and First Grade Bus Riders: Please ensure the following K-1 procedures are followed at your school.

  • All eligible kindergarten and first grade (K-1) students riding the bus must have an orange K-1 sticker (provided by our office) attached to the front of their bus pass.
  • Please remind/notify all K-1 parents/guardians that they are responsible for meeting or designating someone appropriate to meet their K-1 child at the bus stop every day. Any K-1 students who have no one at the bus stop in the PM to accept them will be returned to their school at the conclusion of the route. Contact the Transportation Office if additional K-1 stickers are needed.
  • It is imperative that school administrators/designees identify the correct bus route information for all K-1 students before placing them on a bus. K-1 students should be assisted on the bus at the school before the driver proceeds on the route. Transportation Packets

Transportation Packets: Transportation packets will be delivered by the mailroom to schools Friday, July 26th, and Monday July 29th. The packets contain a transportation handbook, card stock and bus rules. Elementary packets will also include K-1 stickers to place on kindergarten and first grade students' bus passes. If you do not receive a packet by Tuesday, July 30th please email the Transportation office at TransAdminSupport@scsk12.org or call (901) 416-6077.

Bus Pass Files

Bus Pass Files: Transportation personnel will email bus pass files to school Principals and designees beginning Friday, July 26th. A blank bus pass file will also be included for schools to issue temporary bus passes to newly enrolled students whose information is not in PowerSchool. Please ensure you print the bus passes on the appropriate color card stock (ES-Pink, MS-Lime Green, HS-Gold). It is the responsibility of the school to ensure eligible bus riders are issued bus passes.

Bus Seating Charts

Bus Seating Chart: Bus drivers will create a seating chart and students are required to sit in the assigned seat each day unless otherwise directed by the driver. School support will be requested if students do not follow the process as directed. Field Trip Bus Request

Field Trip Bus Request:  First Student request a three-day advance notice for buses. The bus cost is $49.47 per hour with a minimum charge of two hours ($98.94) round trip per bus. First Student’s charges are calculated based on gate-to-gate transportation.
