Tenn. Code Ann. § 49-2-136 became effective in 2021 and requires schools to notify the TSSAA of an enrolled student’s placement in foster care if the student expresses interest in participating in interscholastic athletics. Failure to do so may result in the student-athlete being ineligible.
The TSSAA Portal is a primary point of interaction between member schools and the TSSAA state office. Schools should submit all potential student-athletes via the portal for TSSAA/TMSAA sanctioned sports. Foster care students are submitted in the same fashion.
For special hardship cases, TSSAA has the authority to set aside the effect of any eligibility rule upon student-athletes per specific circumstances outlined in the TSSAA Constitution and Bylaws. If you have any additional questions, please contact the TSSAA regarding submission procedures.

The Q2 Progress Report period ends on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, Progress Reports will be distributed to students and mailed to ensure parents are aware of their child’s progress. Parents will continue to be able to view the grades in the Parent Portal. The Q2 Progress Report Checklist and Instructions is available on SharePoint. This document outlines the teacher and school office staff’s responsibilities for verifying and distributing Q2 Progress Reports.
Below are the instructions on how to mail progress reports.
For grades 1 through 12, a single PDF of all progress reports for each school should be uploaded by school staff to the following link: Q2 Progress Reports 2024-2025.
For Kindergarten report cards, which are usually multiple pages, school staff will need to fold the progress reports, insert them in standard mailing envelopes, seal the envelopes, and place a mailing label on each envelope (refer to pgs. 21-23 of the Q2 Progress Report Checklist and Instructions). Please be sure the envelope also has the return address of the school (refer to pgs. 21-23 of the Q2 Progress Report Checklist and Instructions). These envelopes should then be delivered to the Mail Room where they will be metered and mailed.
If you have questions and/or need additional assistance, please contact your school's assigned SIS Data Specialist.
