2026-27 School Choice Portal 

The School Choice Transfer portal remains open for the 2026-2027 school year. Please continue sharing the following details with families to assist them with the application process.

Application Access

  • How to Apply: Families can visit www.scsk12.org from any device to submit their transfer requests.

Who Needs to Apply?

  • New Applicants: Students seeking a transfer for the first time.
  • Transitioning Students: Students moving up a school level (e.g., rising 6th or 9th graders).
  • Note: Current General Choice students staying at their school in good standing do not need to reapply.

School Responsibilities

To support our goals of recruiting, retaining, and reclaiming students, schools are encouraged to host open houses and showcase their programs to families.

 

2026-2027 Registration: Now Open for All Students

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year is open for all new and returning students. Families can complete the process and update their information at any time via the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Administrative Actions

  • Visibility: Post registration hours and instructions in highly visible areas and at all school entrances.
  • Support Events: Schedule Registration Night(s) to assist families. Coordinate with the Office of Enrollment and Attendance if you require additional support.
  • All Registration Team members are required to complete refresher training via PLZ.

Student Health & Eligibility: Immunizations and Physicals

  • To ensure students are cleared and ready for the 2026-2027 school year, families needing updated immunizations or physicals can submit required consent to ShotRX Health and Wellness Solutions.

MSCS Kindergarten Enrollment & Eligibility Guide

Enrollment Requirements

  • Age Eligibility: To enroll for the 2026-2027 school year, students must be 5 years old on or before August 15, 2026.
  • Registration Deadline: Per state law, new kindergarteners cannot be enrolled after the first 30 days of the school year (September 30, 2026). Previously enrolled students may be accepted at any time.
  • Health Documentation: Proof of a physical examination and a complete immunization record must be submitted at the time of enrollment. Students will not be permitted to enroll until these records are provided.

Early Entrance Screening (2026-27 School Year) 

MSCS provides screening for children who turn 5 between August 16 and September 30, 2026, to determine eligibility for early kindergarten entry.

  • Timeline: Scheduling begins May 18
  • Process: The Assessment Department will coordinate school-based screenings with parental consent. A registration link will be sent to parents from the department.
  • Appointments: To schedule a screening outside of the school setting, please contact the Assessment Department directly.
  • Cut-off: Children turning 5 after September 30, 2026, are not eligible for screening and may enroll in the fall of 2027.

Guidance Regarding GCT Rescinds

  • When processing GCT rescinds, please do not withdraw the student from your school. Our office will take the lead on vetting all GCT rescind requests to ensure they are handled correctly.
  • If you have any questions regarding a specific case, please contact the Office of Enrollment, Attendance & Truancy directly at 901-416-2989.

 

"Pop Out & Register" Enrollment Event

Please share the following information with your school families and parents to encourage attendance at this upcoming district enrollment event.

Event Overview: The Memphis-Shelby County Schools "Pop Out & Register" event is designed to help families prepare for the upcoming school year with direct, hands-on support.

  • Date: Wednesday, July 15
  • Time: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Location: Oakhaven Area
  • Address: Parking Lot of 3219 Winchester Rd

What’s Available for Families:

  • On-Site Registration Assistance: Direct help to get students enrolled for the new school year.
  • School Choice Options: Information and guidance on school selection.

MULTILINGUAL SUMMER REGISTRATION HUBS

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our Multilingual Registration Hubs! This initiative brings district resources directly to our community, making enrollment, attendance support, and school assistance accessible for all families, with a special focus on our multilingual families.

Gear Up for Greatness

An all-school preparation event to align students and staff before Day One. Parents will have the opportunity to get registration support and have their questions answered so every student is ready on day one.

    • Morning Session: 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
    • Evening Session: 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Registration for Grades 5–8 Math Summer Training

Join the Tennessee Department of Education for Summer Grades 5-8 Math Trainings. Local sessions include:

  • July 7-9: Memphis Teaching and Learning Academy
  • July 13-15: Ridgeway Middle School

These three-day, in-person trainings (18 hours of professional learning credit) are designed for middle grades educators and focus on mathematical progressions, high-quality instructional materials, and content knowledge. Space is limited to 30 participants, and registrants should plan to attend all three days, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

We also encourage math administrators, instructional coaches, PLC coaches, and others who support math teachers to attend. TASL credit is available for school administrators.

Help your child stay engaged in reading this summer! Access the Summer Literacy Packet featuring fun, interactive activities designed to strengthen literacy skills while helping prevent summer learning loss. Whether reading independently, with family members, or exploring new topics, students can continue building vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and critical thinking skills throughout the summer months. Just a few minutes of reading and literacy practice each day can help students return to school confident, prepared, and ready for continued success.

TEAM Student Growth Portfolios

All completed student growth portfolio submissions were due in TNPortfolio on May 8. Portfolio scores will be available in the TeachAll platform on Monday, July 6. The overall portfolio score is determined by averaging the four evidence collection growth scores and converting that average to a scaled level from 1-5. 

A portfolio will be assigned an Incomplete (I) and the teacher’s LOE (Level of Overall Effectiveness) score will NOT generate for the 2025-26 school year if any of the four collections were not 100% complete by the deadline. These educators will also be assigned to the Novice track in PLZ for SY26-27 and will receive 4 observations.

TEAM Administrator Certification Training

According to state board rule 0520-02-01 and state board policy 5.201, all educators must be evaluated annually by a certified evaluator.

All evaluator certification training for 2026-2027 is virtual.

  • The window for RECERTIFICATION is from June 1, 2026 to September 9, 2026, 5 p.m. CT.
    • Those not completing recertification by September 9, 2026, 5 p.m. CT, will be required to complete initial certification.
    • Invitation: If you were a certified TEAM evaluator in 2025-26 and did not receive an invitation and process details, please be sure to check spam/junk folders. As invitations were sent in bulk, a firewall may have blocked receipt.
      • Registration is not required. Invitations to access the learning module and to take the recertification test will be sent directly to currently certified evaluators.
      • Contact TEAM.Questions@tn.gov if you are unable to find your recertification invitation.
  • The window for INITIAL CERTIFICATION is from June 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027, 5 p.m. CT.

All certification courses will be accessed in the TeachALL platform. You will need to access the courses with your Single Sign On or a self-created TeachALL account. 

Please Note: The department no longer issues a certificate at the end of evaluator courses. Evaluators can save their TASL email as proof of completion.

​**All TEAM Evaluator completion notifications should be forwarded to the Employee Performance & Support Department via email: EPS@scsk12.org.

SY26–27 TEM Returning Observer Recertification

Information regarding the SY26–27 TEM Recertification process was shared via email on June 10, 2026. If you were a TEM Certified Observer during SY25-26 and did not receive this communication, please contact Employee Performance and Support at EPS@scsk12.org for assistance. 

To conduct TEM observations for SY26-27, observers must complete annual certification requirements by September 7, 2026. The TEM Returning Observer Certification process ONLY applies to employees who were TEM Certified during SY25–26 and who remain in a role eligible for TEM certification for SY26-27. 

To maintain certification and observation eligibility, returning observers must: Complete the TEM Recertification Canvas course Successfully complete the required calibration activity in PLZ Observers are encouraged to begin early to ensure all requirements are completed by the deadline.

Important Notice: 

DAIM has begun our Rollover Summer Maintenance Process for the 2026-2027 school year. During this time, most dashboards will temporarily stop refreshing/updating.

New users and employees with new school assignments will not have access until this process is complete for the start of school in August
 

Featured Updates: 

3rd Grade Appeals data is available in the Literacy Commitment: Promotional Pathways report. On the report, in the data table, the e-Collect Required column used to track 3rd and 4th grade e-Collect compliance has been updated. A new column “e-Collect Completed” has also been added to assist principals. There are also 2 new visuals on the Promotional Pathways report.

The Literacy Commitment District Quick Report has also been updated with the new metrics.
