Memphis, TN – The first day of school for Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) is Monday, August 4. Use this guide to find everything you need to ensure your child is ready for a successful school year!

Registration
For the 2025-26 school year, all returning students must be registered online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
New students must register in person at their zoned school. For additional support, visit the Parent Welcome Center at 2687 Avery Avenue. You can also contact our Attendance and Enrollment Team at (901) 416-2989.
Gear Up Day
On Tuesday, July 29, all MSCS schools will be open during the following times:
- 7:30 AM until 11:30 AM
- 4:30 PM until 6:30 PM
Parents and students can:
- Meet the school’s administrative team
- Pickup supply lists, dress code information, and bus eligibility details
- Sign-up for parent organizations and before/after care (if available)

Health and Wellness
This summer, MSCS hosted two health and wellness events to support student readiness and well-being.
The next event will take place on Saturday, August 2, at the Memphis Sports and Events Center (995 Early Maxwell Blvd., Memphis, TN 38104). Through a partnership with Christ Community Health Services, your child can also receive a physical. Parents will need to call (901)842-2379 to schedule one.

Back to Greatness Supply Giveaway
To start the school year off on the right foot, the district is hosting a block party on Saturday, August 2, from 10 AM to 1 PM, at the Memphis Sports and Events Center.
- FREE uniforms will be available while supplies last (limit 2 items per student); students must be present to receive them
- FREE immunizations and physicals available
- Music, prizes, food, community partners, and fun!
