Rozelle Elementary is making history! The school has officially been named a National Certified Magnet School by Magnet Schools of America, becoming the first school in Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) to earn this prestigious recognition.
This certification affirms Rozelle’s commitment to excellence in arts-integrated education, student voice, and inclusive school culture, values that have long defined the school community.

Rozelle already stands as a beacon of excellence in MSCS, celebrated for its blend of academic rigor and artistic innovation. The school has earned multiple distinctions, including:
- Tennessee Arts Academy Arts-Rich Elementary School of the Year
- Model School designation for exemplary instructional practices in arts education
- Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America
- Level 5 Reward School in 2022 for exceptional student growth
- Certified National Magnet School — the first in MSCS history
Principal Dr. Taurus Hines reflected on what this moment means for the school:
“This honor affirms what Rozelle stands for: a place where creativity is cultivated, achievement is expected, and every child is seen as a leader in the making. Being named a National Certified Magnet School reflects the legacy we are building, one where the arts and academics are not separate lanes, but a shared highway to greatness. Our students rise because they are surrounded by a community that believes in their brilliance and invests in their future.”
With this national recognition, Rozelle continues to build a powerful legacy, not only within its own walls, but now on a national stage, paving the way for other schools across the district.
