Back to School: Classes Resume August 3, 2026
The first day of classes for students at Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) is Monday, August 3. To prepare families for back-to-school readiness, please refer to this guide. We are here to help you verify that your child is ready to start on the right foot for a thriving 2026-2027 school year. And remember, Greatness Grows Here!
To register your child for the 2026-2027 school year, all families must complete registration via the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
New students must register in person at their zoned school. For assistance, use this link to identify your zoned school. For additional support, visit the Parent Welcome Center at 2687 Avery Avenue to connect with our Attendance and Enrollment Team in-person or call them at (901) 416-2989.
Gear Up Day
On Tuesday, July 28, all MSCS-managed schools will be open during the following times:
7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Parents and students can:
Meet the school’s administrative team.
Pickup supply lists, dress code information, and bus eligibility details.
Sign up for parent organizations and before/after care (if applicable).
Health and Wellness
In partnership with ShotRx and the Shelby County Health Department, MSCS is hosting immunization events. Kindergarten and 7th grade parents should pay close attention to these dates as students in these grade levels require specific vaccinations.

Supply Drive & Block Party
Annually, the District hosts a huge FREE supply giveaway for ALL MSCS families! This year, the event will be hosted at Memphis Sports and Events Center (located at 995 Early Maxwell Blvd, Memphis, TN 38104) on Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
FREE immunizations are available!
