UPDATE – September 24, 2018

Student Transfers: We want to thank all Kirby High families for their continued patience, understanding and cooperation as we’ve worked through our transition process for Kirby students. We completed our first full week of classes at both locations last week, and we were very excited to see students and teachers engaged in class all week and working hard to make up for lost time. That said, we recognize the circumstances are not ideal. We heard families loud and clear at our community meetings that having all students together in the same building was the preferred option. We worked hard to make that possible, but the current plan is the best we could do to avoid a longer disruption for students. As much as we want to keep our Kirby family together, we understand if some may want to consider a different option for this school year. Our transfer period is technically over, but we are making an exception for Kirby families who want to apply for a transfer to another SCS high school. For those who do decide to apply for a transfer, we hope they will consider returning to Kirby after this year because we are making some significant investments to improve the school building and campus, and we think students, families and the community will be very excited when it reopens.

To apply for a transfer this year, please contact our Parent Welcome Center at (901) 416-5300 to find out which schools have available enrollment space. Please note, students who transfer will not be eligible for athletics at the next school due to state guidelines, but they can take advantage of all other academic and extracurricular programs. Again, the number to call for transfer information is (901) 416-5300.

UPDATE – September 21, 2018

The form can be completed online or printed and signed to turn in at school. Students should contact a school administrator to receive their laptop at school.

Please see the update below (Sept. 11) for complete details on how to complete the laptop user agreement form and additional times for laptop pick-up.

During today’s student assembly, staff discussed the online curriculum that will help students recover missed instructional time. The curriculum can be accessed from the SCS-issued laptops, as well as any home or public device with Internet access, including a smart phone.

UPDATE – September 11, 2018

Student Laptops: The District is making personal laptops available for all Kirby HS students for supplemental online instruction. This is a key strategy to help students recover missed instructional time. The devices will also support students’ ongoing learning the rest of the year.

IMPORTANT: Laptop distribution will take place at Hickory Ridge MS Wednesday, September 12, 7:15 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Thursday, September 13, 7:45 a.m. – 7 p.m. a.m. Students must have the laptop agreement form signed by a parent or guardian before they can receive a device. If you are unable to accompany your child at school to sign the form, you can complete it online or print and sign the agreement form to send with your child to turn in at school.
