Dr. Myracle steps into the classroom

Dr. Jared Myracle, Executive Director of Literacy for Memphis-Shelby County Schools, went back to class on Tuesday … as a substitute teacher.

Dr. Myracle substituted for Dr. Tamara Onwuemenyi’s fifth-grade class at Kate Bond Elementary School. He spent the entire school day with the students: “He walked them out of the building at the end of the day,” a Kate Bond staff member said.

Dr. Myracle began his education career in 2007. As Director of Literacy, he will lead the District’s effort to ensure students are reading and writing proficiently and understanding complicated texts.
