District 3: Cornelius Ratliff – A Rising Star with Big Goals and Even Bigger Ambitions

Cornelius Ratliff is not only a standout student but also an exceptional athlete. Cornelius’ basketball coach, Joseph Washington, said his teachers consistently praise Cornelius as a “genius” who excels in every aspect of his life. With a natural ability to lead, Cornelius strives to be the best in every class and every game. Known for his charismatic personality and infectious smile, he has quickly become a role model for his peers. Whether in the classroom or on the court, Cornelius’ drive to succeed and his commitment to excellence shine through in everything he does.

Since joining the Raleigh Egypt Pharaohs Boys’ Basketball Team, Cornelius has shown an unwavering commitment to improvement. He never misses a day in the gym, on the track, or in the weight room. Despite being one of the youngest players on the team, he leads by example, holding himself and his teammates to high standards. His work ethic, dedication, and leadership skills have made him someone that others look up to. It’s no surprise that Cornelius is currently averaging an impressive 21.5 points per game, a testament to his hard work and natural talent.

The Pharaohs have had a strong run in recent seasons, securing two MSCIAA City Championship appearances and finishing as District Runner-Ups for the last two years. However, Cornelius has his sights set on even greater accomplishments. He’s determined to lead his team to a District Championship title, win the MSCIAA City Championship, and make a deep run in the Regionals. His ultimate goal is to take the Pharaohs to the Sub-state Tournament and give them a shot at reaching the State Tournament in Murfreesboro. With his leadership and relentless drive, Cornelius is poised to help his team reach new heights and achieve their goals.

As Cornelius continues to grow both as a student and an athlete, there’s no doubt that his journey will inspire many. His ambition, leadership, and passion for both academics and athletics set him apart as a true rising star. With his sights firmly set on the future, Cornelius is ready to leave his mark, both on and off the basketball court.
