Last week, 3 Newcomer International Center (NIC) students became part of the MSCS’ Legacy Builders program.
“We are so proud of them and excited for the voice they bring to the district for the newcomer population,” NIC stated on their Facebook account. “We are thankful for these resilient and courageous students. Thank you for giving us a seat at the table.”
The fact that these students are multilingual learners makes it even more meaningful for MSCS, as it shows how the district is indeed having a positive impact on young students from other countries and cultures so they can also be leaders in the future and legacy builders. Moreover, it strengthens MSCS’ mission of welcoming, educating, and empowering all students, no matter where they come from.
The MSCS’ Legacy Builders program allows teachers, students, and staff to share valuable information about our schools, including areas of strength and areas in need of improvement, while engaging in team-building activities that help strengthen their leadership skills.
If you have a story about a MSCS student, teacher, or school to highlight, please email us at communications@scsk12.org. Include the school name, story details, and an SCSK12.ORG email for follow-up.
