Extended Learning Programs

All About Extended Learning Programs (ELP)
SCS’s Extended Learning Programs (ELP) Department is designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students. Extended Learning Programs (ELP) include literacy development and enrichment, math/science skills, academic mentoring and tutorial assistance, and exploratory opportunities. The newly structured ELP staff is charged with implementing a more robust, realignment of current projects/curricula while reimagining extended learning services to strengthen the learning environment and meet the required directives of TDOE. Professional development continues to focus on training all staff members how to implement extended best learning practices, and effectively use the new curriculum model with detailed pacing guides.

SCS operated Extended Learning Programs are FREE of Charge to students as SCS’s addresses needs of priority schools under the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) and Lottery for Education Afterschool Program (LEAPS) grant with 31 site locations. Before-care and after-care programs operated by community partners, such as the YMCA, are fee-based programs. Community partners may offer financial assistance towards the cost of attendance. Please inquire about financial assistance with the community partner.

Qualified students, including students with disabilities, are admitted to SCS Extended Learning Programs, including after-care and before-care programs operated by community partners such as the YMCA, on a first-come, first serve basis.
