Board Member T. L. Harris brings a diverse background in public service, executive leadership, youth advocacy, ministry, finance, and media. A proud graduate of East High School, he continued his educational journey through LeMoyne-Owen College, Louisiana State University (LSU), and the University of Memphis, experiences that contributed to his development as a leader and public servant.
His professional experience includes service as a military veteran, work with the Memphis Police Department, C-suite leadership, case management with Youth Villages, youth ministry, and service as a CFO for a private medical office. He has also worked in music production, songwriting, and radio, strengthening his ability to communicate and connect with diverse audiences.
Board Member Harris’s commitment to service is also personal. After once receiving support from the Neighborhood Christian Center, he later returned to give back through service to the organization.
Together, these experiences position Board Member Harris to bring several important strengths to the board: fiscal responsibility, executive leadership, public-safety awareness, youth advocacy, community engagement, effective communication, compassion, and a strong understanding of opportunity and redemption.
Above all, T. L. Harris is a true advocate for second chances. He believes a person’s past should not determine their future and that strong communities are built when people have access to mentorship, resources, accountability, education, and meaningful opportunities.
As Board Member Harris begins this new chapter of public service, he brings both professional and lived experience. He understands what it means to serve, lead, receive help, give back, and help others find a path forward. His diverse background allows him to approach board decisions from multiple perspectives while remaining focused on strengthening families, empowering young people, responsibly managing resources, and creating opportunities for the community to succeed.
