The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) released its 2019 accountability ratings for districts and schools today, and 22 SCS-managed schools were recognized as Reward schools.
Reward status is the highest distinction a school can earn in Tennessee. It is based on successful student achievement and growth, along with other performance measures.

This year’s SCS Reward schools are:
This is the third consecutive year Middle College High has been named a Reward school and the second consecutive year for A. B. Hill Elementary, Highland Oaks Elementary, Holmes Road Elementary, Lucie E. Campbell Elementary, Richland Elementary, Riverwood Elementary and White Station Middle.
More SCS Schools Move Off Priority List
For the second consecutive year, the number of SCS-managed schools on the State’s Priority list has decreased. Three schools came off the list in 2018-19:
"It is incredibly encouraging to see the gains these schools have made to come off the Priority List,” said Superintendent Ray. “This is the result of intentional support by our partners at the State, in coordination with our District, in developing a plan to improve.”
Remarkably, the total number of Priority schools has gone from 69 in the first year of the Priority list (2012) to just 14 SCS-managed schools currently.
