Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) continues its commitment to transparent leadership and open communication with the launch of the Weekly Recap newsletters on the Superintendent landing page, designed to keep families, staff, and community partners informed. At the center of this work is the Superintendent landing page, which serves as a centralized hub for leadership communications and resources from Interim Superintendent Dr. Roderick Richmond. While the webpage itself remains a stable resource, new content is added regularly through newsletters and messages that reflect the District’s ongoing work and progress.
Commitment to Transparency
In early February 2025, Dr. Richmond introduced the Weekly Recap newsletter, a dedicated weekly communication shared to all MSCS employees, providing regular insight into his work and daily priorities. The initiative highlights leadership activities since his appointment in January 2025 and offers a consistent, accessible way for all MSCS internal stakeholders to stay connected to District progress. These Weekly Recaps are archived on the Superintendent landing page, allowing staff and the public to follow district initiatives, internal communications, and leadership actions over time. The newsletters also highlight student and staff success stories, reinforcing MSCS’s focus on achievement, collaboration, and continuous improvement across schools and departments.
Dr. Richmond also connects directly with MSCS families through monthly messages that are distributed as part of the District’s family newsletter. The messages focus on District priorities, student success, and shared goals, helping families stay informed and engaged in the work of MSCS leadership. By maintaining consistent communication with both internal and external audiences, MSCS ensures leadership updates are accessible, timely, and aligned.
Pathways to Greatness Plan
The “My Pathways to Greatness Plan” reflects MSCS’ commitment to personalized learning and student-centered growth. Through Personalized Learning Plans (PLP), students receive an individualized framework that outlines academic goals, tracks progress, and identifies targeted supports, while giving families and educators clear insights into student learning.
By sharing updates directly with the community, MSCS aims to strengthen trust, increase visibility into decision-making, and ensure stakeholders understand how leadership actions support student success and staff growth.
Families, staff, and community members can explore the weekly updates and learn more about Dr. Richmond’s leadership and priorities by visiting www.scsk12.org/superintendent/. New content is added regularly to reflect ongoing efforts and districtwide progress.
