The School Based Probation Liaison (SBPL) Program is a joint venture between Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) and Juvenile Court of Memphis & Shelby County. The purpose of the program is:
- Increase communication between the school district and Juvenile Court.
- Meet the educational and other related needs of students.
- Provide Schools with alternatives for managing students exhibiting behavioral problems.
- To provide intervention services for all youth charged with committing a delinquent act
- To provide supervision and counseling to youth on probation within targeted schools
- To increase school attendance To decrease the number of suspensions
- To increase academic performance To decrease the rate of recidivism
