ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funds were allocated to school districts in Tennessee as part of federal efforts to support education in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds aim to address learning loss, maintain safe learning environments, and support students' academic and social-emotional needs. Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) conducted a thorough review of needs and gathered feedback from the community and stakeholders before allocating funds to specific programs.
To ensure transparency and accountability, MSCS has evaluated the impact of our ESSER-funded programs to confirm that these investments contributed to improved student outcomes and recovery. A selection of these evaluations is provided in presentation format. For more detailed statistical analyses on larger programs, please visit the Research Papers Section of Publications.
