Accelerated Academies offer innovative, rich, rigorous and engaging instruction designed to address the individual academic and developmental needs of students. Accelerated schools offer a block schedule that allows high school students to earn more credits than traditional students.

CHOICE/HYBRID SCHOOLS
K–8 program offers a unique, boutique-style learning environment designed to foster strong relationships and individualized support. Admission is based on a voluntary application and review process, allowing families to choose the program and ensuring alignment with the school's educational philosophy. With a small student population, the school provides a personalized, community-oriented experience that supports academic growth and social-emotional development.
INCARCERATED/JUVENILE REENTRY SUPPORT EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Provides comprehensive educational services tailored for detained juveniles, recently released youth, and those under diversion or intervention supports. The program focuses on academic instruction, life skills, and career readiness, helping students transition successfully back into their communities and schools. These programs bridge the gap between detention and reintegration, promoting long-term success and reducing recidivism.

NEWCOMER PROGRAM
A specialized educational program designed to support high school students who are new to US school systems.
- Newcomer International Center (NIC) located on Wooddale High School campus
- Serves ages 14-17 with little to no schooling
- A two-year program where students can earn 14 credits toward their high school diploma.
- Offers small classes, individualized attention, and bilingual staff members.
- Partners with Wooddale High School to offer immersion experiences with native English-speaking students through art, physical education, science, math, and history courses.
PURSUIT CENTER
The Pursuit Center is a juvenile intervention support program funded through the Shelby County Office of Justice Initiatives.
- Located at G.W. Carver College & Career Academy
- Evening Reporting Center for students referred by Juvenile Court
- Participants are placed in 30-day cohorts
- Programs hours: Mon – Fri 4pm to 7:45pm
- Transportation is provided in accordance with Tennessee Student Transportation Laws
TRADITIONAL ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS
The mission of the MSCS Division of Accelerated Education is to provide a non-traditional academic program designed to meet the educational, behavioral, and social needs of students.

YOUTH ADVOCACY PROGRAM
The Youth Advocacy Program supports and advocates for teen parents, ensuring their comprehension needs are met while attending Memphis-Shelby County Schools. Our infrastructure of community resources and strong school wide partnerships enables MSCS to successfully increase teen parent graduation rates while promoting secondary educational goals.
