The mission of Shelby County Schools’ Department of Career and Technical Education is to engage and prepare students for life success through career pathways and programs of study that are relevant to student interest and responsive to the needs of employers and the local, national, and global economies. Our vision is that all students learn in state-of the art classrooms with certified, professional instructors teaching rigorous, relevant lessons and applying practical application. The ultimate goal is that every student will graduate with the academic, technical, interpersonal, communication, and social skills needed to compete and contribute in a global society.

All CTE programs are aligned to the National Career Clusters Framework that enables clear pathways to licensing, industry certification, and advanced degrees. Our programs offer rigorous, relevant, and highly technical training that is aligned with business/industry standards for today’s workforce. Our programs also promote career awareness and facilitate a smooth transition from high school to college. Students have an opportunity to enter a post-secondary institution to further their education or enter the job market with a high-paying skill.
