WHAT IS A READY GRADUATE?
In today’s career landscape, preparing for success after graduation isn’t one-size-fits-all. We offer a diverse array of programs to give our students the skills and credentials to excel after senior year. Whether it be industry certifications, internships, or college credits, we can provide the experience to make any student a READY GRADUATE.
WHAT IS READY GRADUATE STATUS?
The Tennessee Department of Education establish a set of criteria for students to meet that would indicate their readiness to enter college. Trade/technical school, the military, or the workforce upon graduation from high school. Meeting one (1) of the four criteria below satisfies this expectation:
- Earn an ACT Composite score of 21 or higher on the ACT or a 1060 or higher on the SAT; or
- Complete four Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSOs); or
- Complete two EPSOs and earn an industry certification; or
- Complete two EPSOs and earn a score of 31 on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test/Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT).
Meeting or not meeting “Ready Graduate” status does not impact a student’s ability to graduate, but it does indicate a student developed the skills needed for likely success in postsecondary education, military service, or entering the workforce.
College Credits & Industry Pathways
We offer 40+ Ready Grad pathways across all high schools, with 30+ college level courses and 30+ career certifications available in high-demand industries. Every SCS high school offers one or more Ready Grad course tracks.
Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSOs) Early College Program
Students in the Early College Program can take courses for post-secondary credit on local college and university campuses. Students can participate in campus activities, use the campus library and other resources, and receive ongoing support from a college advisor.
