From the Principal

 

Dear Parents,

 

Welcome to a new school year filled with great expectations and a new vision!  As principal of American Way Middle School, I thank you for allowing your child to be a part of our learning community. It is the promise of our staff to ensure that your child receives a quality education, taught by highly qualified teachers. We are committed to creating a safe learning environment, rigorous curriculum, and lessons that will inspire a passion for learning within all of our children. Further, students can participate in programs that will allow them to flourish in their gifts and talents while focused on character building.      

 

This year we are going to “soar to new heights” as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous and relevant while building positive relationships. As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors—teachers, students and parents—are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, innovative, and nurturing environment.  

As parents/guardians, we invite you to actively engage and participate in our state of the art learning community. Volunteer opportunities abound at AWMS and we welcome your input in providing a safe and successful learning environment for your child.  We firmly believe “Because your child matters, You matter.”   My door is always open and I welcome your input.  Please feel free to stop in, call, or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!

 

We ask you to please read and share the Shelby County Schools Handbook with your child and we thank you for entrusting your child to the American Way Middle School family. We are here to help your child learn and achieve because it’s the American Way!
