Message from the Principal

It is a pleasure to serve as Vollentine Optional Elementary School’s new principal. I am Crystal Watts Peterson, and I am a native of Shaw, MS. I have served in education for eleven years. My past educator experience involves serving as a reading/ language arts teacher, special education instructional resource teacher, instructional facilitator, and assistant principal. The goal of everything I do in a school is to improve the quality of life that students will experience after high school. I know that if students believe in themselves and their abilities throughout school, they will persevere through challenges and be successful in their adult lives. I believe that my actions today in the elementary setting will help transform the lives of children in the future. I believe that education allows children to achieve personal success and enter the world ready to compete on a global level. This mindset drives my actions each day.

As we begin the 2018-2019 school year at Vollentine, I am certain that with your support, our school will continue to uphold a strong tradition of academic excellence. Please feel free to reach out to me throughout the school year with any questions or concerns. I may be reached at or by phone at (901) 416-4632.
