The following information
is necessary before enrolling a child in Chimneyrock Elementary or any other
Shelby County School.
Federal Court orders and Shelby County School Board Policy require that only
students who live with their parent/guardian in the Shelby County School District
may attend Shelby County Schools.
When you come for registration of
any student new to Shelby County Schools and
Chimneyrock Elementary, please bring the following items:
- Child's Social Security
number
- Withdrawal papers from
previous school or address of previous
school
- Copy of child's last report
card
- Proof of Residence (at least
2 of the following)
The following items are accepted as Proof of Residence:
- Sale contract (closing paper
or title)
- Real Estate tax
receipt
- Mortgage information
(contingency agreements are not
acceptable)
- Utility bill or turn-on
receipt
- Rental contract
If living with someone else:
Must Provide:
- A notarized letter for proof
of residence with two (2) proofs of the
homeowner's residence from the list above.
- The homeowner and
parent/guardian required to appear in person at
registration.
- Parent/guardian will have 10
days to provide 2 items of proof showing their name and correct
address.
- If a student does not live
with both parents, a copy of guardianship papers is
required.
Students new to Shelby County
Schools will have one month to get the following:
- Proof of medical
examination
- Permanent Tennessee
Certificate of Immunization
Students just starting Kindergarten must also furnish a certified
copy of the child's Birth Certificate before being allowed to
register. A mother's copy of the birth certificate is
not acceptable.
