1.An Honor Roll Criteria has been developed for grades 1 - 5. Students who meet the specified criteria will receive Principal's Honor Roll, Academic Honor Roll, and/or Citizenship Honor Roll. Students with perfect attendance will also be recognized. The "Excellence in Action" award will also be given each nine weeks. This award is given to no more than two students per homeroom each nine weeks who exemplify "excellence in action". The Triple Honor Roll category is for students who make Principal's or Academic Honor Roll, Citizenship, and Perfect Attendance. Students on Principal's Honor Roll and Triple Honor Roll will receive a ribbon and have a special activity each nine weeks. Students on Academic Honor Roll, Citizenship Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, and Excellence in Action will receive free coupons from area businesses each nine weeks. In addition, these Honor Rolls will be reported to the Millington Star and Commercial Appeal for publication. Teachers are encouraged to recognize these students on a classroom bulletin board or on Lesson Line, etc. as well.
2. An Honors Activity will be held to honor all students in grades 1-5 who have been on Principal's Honor Roll, Academic Honor Roll, or any combination of the two for the first three grading periods and at interim grade time for the fourth period.
3. An Honors Assembly will be held at the end of the school year to honor student achievement. The Honors Assembly will include students in grades 1-4 only. Grades K and 5 will recognize students during K graduation and 5th Grade Class Day ceremonies. Support class teachers will also recognize achievement for the year at this assembly.
E.E. Jeter Student Council
The E. E. Jeter Student Council is a small but important part of the school which requires a strong leadership and commitment from its members. The Council is elected by the student body to serve as a democratic voice for all students of the school. Through the Student Council, every student's idea can be heard. The Council members are responsible for representing the views of their classmates. Our school developed this council to keep students, administrators, and teachers informed of each other's ideas, needs, and opinions. Most importantly, serving as a Student Council Representative provides students an opportunity to learn about the democratic process and leadership.
The Representatives are required to maintain model academic and behavior records as they set standards for other Jeter students. The Student Council meets once a month for regular business and intermittently after school when specific events occur. Representatives may be called upon to write letters to our administrators and address issues brought before the council by fellow students.
Student Council Representatives serve as hosts and hostesses to visitors to our school. During the course of the school year, the Council completes service projects. Some projects done in past years have included visiting and delivering goods to the elderly and collecting donations for MIFA and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Regular duties of the Student Council Members include making morning announcements. Students may also be asked to lead the Pledge of Allegiance in assemblies or PTA meetings.
