PTA
Membership in Rivercrest Elementary PTA
costs only $5.00 per person. Anyone can be a member; parents,
students, grandparents, aunts, uncles, anyone who wants to be a part
of helping their school become a happy and safe learning place.
Membership
Benefits
National, State and local PTA use
the money collected from membership fees to help shape state and
national legislation that safeguards the general welfare of children.
Rivercrest receives awards for the most participation from parents
and teachers. Your child will think you're great for being an active
participant in their school. They can be proud when they hear their
classroom receive an award for having the highest PTA
membership.
PTA
Information
We have four General PTA meetings
each year. Each meeting has a short program that offers great ideas
on how we can better our children's lives. Dates for the 2004 - 2005
school year:
Contests
PTA sponsors three great contests
each year. Each participant receives a certificate and winners will
receive a trophies. The winners go on to compete against all Shelby
County Schools.
Box
Tops for Education
Save Box Tops for Education! Our
library gets $0.10 for each box top turned in. The PTA helps by
collecting and tallying the box tops from each classroom at the end
of each 9 weeks. We reward the winning classroom with an ice cream
party. For more information, visit http://www.boxtops4education.com/.
Volunteers
We need volunteers in many areas at
the school.
1. We
need someone to shelve books each morning in the library between
8:15-8:45, even if you can
only
help once a month.
2. We
need clinic workers everyday. You can work mornings or
afternoons. It's a great time to come
early
or stay after and have lunch with your child.
3. We
always need extra help with Donuts for Dad, Muffins for Mom, and math
tutors. Please let us
know
if you would like to help. The rewards are endless when you volunteer
at your child's school.
