Though he suffers from a rare, life-threatening disease, James is actively involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA), Science Club, Knowledge Bowl, 4-H Honors Club, and Boy Scouts. He says that he has never asked "Why me?" He plans to attend UT Martin and eventually become a doctor.

Bolton Mentors
This summer our new Mentors sponsored a Kick-Off Orientation day for incoming Freshmen, and almost 400 of our 580 Freshmen participated.  Throughout the upcoming year the Mentors will have activities to stay connected to and involved with the 9th graders.  The Mentors are headed by a Council of Mentors who have agreed to assume leadership of the group and will develop their goals and activities. The major goal of the mentoring program is to positively impact grades, attendance, and behavior of 9th graders.  Academic failure is not an option.  We also want very high attendance and very low discipline referrals.  The teachers may also call on the Mentors to help them with students who are struggling with the transition to high school.  We want it to be a great program and one that positively impacts our school environment.   This new Mentoring program is sponsored by the Guidance Department.
