Students’ averages are weighted in honors and Advanced Placement level courses. In Advanced Placement level courses, an additional five points are added to the nine-week average and exam grade if the grade is above a 69. In honors level courses, three points are added to the nine-week average and exam grade if grade is above a 69. Grade Point Averages are calculated based upon semester averages and are weighted.

Seniors are exempt from exams if they have semester average of 90 or higher and have 3 or fewer excused absences.

GPA

The Grade Point Average is calculated at the end of every semester using the semester averages of all classes. A current GPA is calculated for that semester whereas; the cumulative GPA is determined by an average of all the semesters. An A is equal to 4 points, a B is 3 points, a C is 2 points and a D is 1 point. An unweighted GPA removes the extra points earned in an honors or Advanced Placement class prior to determining the GPA. The unweighted GPA is used for the Hope Scholarship.
A student with these grades would have this calculated GPA:
English 94 - 4
Science 77 - 2
Math 83 - 2
Foreign Language 97 - 4
Wellness 90 - 3
88.2 - 3 Point GPA

Class Rank
