Art Club

The Art Club is made up of a group of talented individuals who auditioned for a spot in the Art Club. The club meets twice a month and focuses on a variety of art experiences such as sculpture, painting, ceramics, metal work, jewelry making, origami, weaving, drawing, painting and more. This group is encouraged to produce works to be entered in the various art competitions available to middle school students. The Art Club will be taking field trips to museums and art exhibits in the area as well as hosting guest artists. The Art Club sponsors an annual Art Club dance each year to raise funds for art supplies. We are looking forward to a great year with a great group of students.

To try out for a team, a student must maintain a C average, along with no N's or U's on their report cards. Tryouts begin in October and practices are held after school. National Junior Honor Society

National Junior Honor Society is a service organization that recognizes academic excellence. The membership criteria consist of seventh and eighth graders who maintain a 3.5 grade point average; based on the last semester average. Candidates are then evaluated on the basis of excellence in service, leadership, character and citizenship. The selection of each member to the chapter will be a majority vote of the faculty council. Membership is an honor, as well as a responsibility.

Student Ambassadors

Two students (boy and girl) are selected in every homeroom. They assist the guidance counselor and their responsibilities include: helping new students become adjusted to their new environment, being role models in dealing with issues of bullying and harassment, and helping with Career day, Spring orientation and Red ribbon week. Student Ambassadors meet during club schedule.

Students for Christ

Students for Christ is a club committed to engaging the hearts and minds of students through small group discussions, study of the Bible, monthly fellowship meetings, and prayer. It is an interdenominational Christian student organization where students can come together with friends to share their faith through biblical principles and lessons. It is an opportunity for Christian life skills to become a part of the daily schedules of busy students. We are a group of students seeking to embody the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ and to share the good news of His love with others.

Student Council

The Dexter Middle School Student Council is composed of an exceptional group of homeroom representatives who are nominated and elected by their peers. Each representative must maintain honor roll grades and good conduct in order to remain an active participant. Student Council members demonstrate their leadership qualities by volunteering their time during school and afterward for special events such as homecoming and PTA meetings. Additionally, they sponsor many other school-sponsored affairs. They earn money for their projects by providing and serving the refreshments at all home basketball games. This is a remarkable group of students who serve Dexter Middle School in a variety of capacities.
