It is my belief that every child can learn and my passion to make that possible here at Dexter Middle School. We have a dedicated faculty and staff working tirelessly to provide our students with as many learning opportunities as possible. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math remains a priority. Instruction in the fine arts, technology, and physical education complete our program providing each student with the opportunity to develop areas of interest and skill. It is my goal to promote high academic standards and foster an environment where students are challenged to use critical thinking skills on a daily basis. I look forward to working with parents and students throughout the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success. As part of the administrative team, I openly extend my welcome to Dexter Middle School. Our goal is to provide exciting educational opportunities for our students, with one of the most highly qualified professional staffs in Shelby County. We strive to insure that all children have the opportunity to reach high standards of success. Dexter Middle School provides a learning environment that will encourage active learning, positive social interactions, develop self-respect and self-discipline. The staff of DMS places the utmost emphasis on a happy, safe, and nurturing atmosphere.

Therefore, our professional staff, with assistance from the community and systemwide resources, has the responsibility to develop a stable, individually appropriate curriculum emphasizing proficiency in the basic skills as well as experiences that contribute to a comprehensive, practical education. At Dexter Middle, we believe that all children are unique individuals capable of learning. We seek to create a positive environment in which children learn to their maximum potential. It is the goal of our faculty and staff to provide a warm, nurturing school climate that promotes student success.
