This school year is going to be exciting and full of wonderful opportunities for the students of Dexter Middle to engage in meaningful lessons and develop positive decision-making skills. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math will remain a priority. It is my goal to promote high academic standards and foster an environment where students are challenged to use critical thinking skills on a daily basis. During the 2007 – 2008 school year, Dexter Middle School will pilot Physical science in addition to Algebra I. Instruction in the fine arts, technology, and physical education complete our program providing each student with the opportunity to develop areas of interest and skill. I look forward to working with parents and students throughout the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success. As part of the administrative team, I openly extend my welcome to Dexter Middle School. Our goal is to provide exciting educational opportunities for our students, with one of the most highly qualified professional staffs in Shelby County. We strive to insure that all children have the opportunity to reach high standards of success. Dexter Middle School provides a learning environment that will encourage active learning, positive social interactions, develop self-respect and self-discipline. The staff of DMS places the utmost emphasis on a happy, safe, and nurturing atmosphere.
