Welcome to the Shadowlawn Middle School website. My name is John McDonald, and it is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the principal of this great school. I have been been an educator for the past twenty-seven years, and an administrator for eighteen of those years. Most of those twenty-seven years, I have worked with middle school students, and I wouldn't choose to be anywhere else but middle school.

My goal here is a simple one - to provide a safe and productive learning environment for every student at Shadowlawn Middle School. I believe in setting high standards for behavior and achievement for all students, and I stick to those standards. I believe in firm and consistent rules and consequences for all students. I believe in developing positive cooperative professional relationships with students, parents, teachers, staff, and the community. I believe in being a visible presence in the school - in the hallways, in the cafeteria, and in the classrooms.

We have some challenges ahead of us this year, but I have a great faculty and staff. I also know that this a great community with capable students and supportive parents. Working together, we will accomplish great things. I look forward to working with you and being a part of the Shadowlawn community for many years to come.
