Thank you for considering employment with Shelby County Schools. You may apply online for certified teaching, substitute, support, and/or administrative positions by clicking on the appropriate links. Specific information regarding each type of position is provided with the online application. Please do not send any application materials such as resumes, transcripts, etc. to our office unless requested. You may apply online at our office (160 S. Hollywood) if you do not have access to a computer.
All information provided and any related documents requested are public information and are subject to release to the public. Shelby County Schools requires a criminal background check on all new employees.
Shelby County Schools is committed to staffing its schools with Highly Qualified teachers and paraprofessionals. Therefore, it is a condition of employment that teachers and paraprofessionals complete Highly Qualified paperwork and that they demonstrate Highly Qualified status upon employment. Failure to do so may result in Shelby County Schools rescinding your employment offer.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOLS APPLICANTS

Application, Interview, and Hiring Process
  1. Your application will remain active for one year. To maintain an active application be sure to log in and update it regularly. If your application is not modified for a year (365 days) it will be expired. To reactivate it after it is expired, simply log in to the application and click "Reactivate."
  2. If you do not reactivate your application after one year, your application will be moved to an inactive status and will remain so for another year at which time it will be deleted.
  3. Upon receipt of your completed application, the Human Resources Department will notify you by e-mail if you are selected for an initial interview. Only those applicants in subject areas of need will be contacted for an interview.
  4. Upon completion of your initial interview, you may be contacted by the Human Resources Department to interview personally with principals who have vacancies in your area(s) of endorsement.
  5. Principals will notify the Human Resources Department of their recommendations to fill vacancies. If selected, you will be contacted by HR and offered a position. You are not hired unless you are offered a position by HR and accept the position. The date that you accept the position will be considered your acceptance date.
