News Editor directives:

Congratulations! You are the new News Editor for this newly coined newspaper! Your expertise lies in fictional writing and typing. You will research, write and proof read at least two fictional article for the team newspaper. At least one article must have a picture to include with a caption. In addition, you will type other's work and be closely involved in the layout of the paper.

To help you find some great information for a couple of fictional articles, look at the following web sites.

As you write your articles, have some creative fun. You might write one from a real "Jay Leno" perspective, showing the interesting or bizarre found in life. This makes for interesting reading. Or, you might try your hand at writing about an incident from first person point of view: you are the ruling leader or prominent politician, or person who knows of Poe. Give your take on an interesting situation.

Remember to place in your portfolio the drafts of your articles and your notes.

After you have completed your work, make sure the other team members know that you are available to type their work. The may choose to do it on their own, and that is fine. However, you and the art editor need to decide on a size and type of font which all articles are to be submitted in. The captions also should be in a smaller size, consistent font. Titles of articles should be big and bold, but not obnoxiously so. Ads can be what ever you and the art editor decide. Sections, such as the entertainment and personal and classifieds, can have their own much smaller size of font.

Remember to have a great time, and make this paper fun to look at!
