In the event that an employee’s military absence does not meet the qualifications for military FMLA you may apply for a military Non-FMLA leave. Examples of this include annual training. Employees are required to submit a Non-Medical Leave Packet for each absence associated such leave, as soon as possible.
The Leave of Absence department is responsible for tracking paid military leave granted under Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). As a result, leave of absence paperwork is required for all military related absences. Examples may include one (1) day absence for the purpose of annual training.
Unpaid Leave may be granted to allow eligible employees time to pursue educational studies that will directly benefit the District.
Employees are allowed time off to hold an elective or appointive public office.
Employees needing to be absent for 10 consecutive work days or more for situations that do not fall under FMLA or any of the other leave types listed on this page can apply for a Miscellaneous leave by completing a Non-Medical Leave Packet.
