Tanya Frey serves as the School Board representative for District 8.
Tanya Frey is the Founder and CEO of Terra Firma, a Consulting, where she helps nonprofit organizations build sustainable success through strategic recruitment, executive placement, and organizational development. With expertise spanning leadership, legal operations, fundraising, and organizational strategy, Tanya brings a highly personalized, concierge-level approach focused on workplace culture and organizational fit.
Before founding Terra Firma Consulting, Tanya served as Vice President of the Midsouth Territory for ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she built and led a 54-person high-performing team overseeing more than 40 annual events and multi-million-dollar fundraising efforts, with direct fundraising budgets exceeding $60 million.
Earlier in her career with the ALSAC Legal Division, Tanya supported the operations of a $2.5 billion fundraising and awareness organization. She directed regulatory initiatives, ensured fundraising compliance, and led high-performing legal teams.
Tanya is a passionate advocate for equity in the workforce and has a proven track record of strengthening hiring, retention, and advancement practices to create more inclusive workplaces. She is also an accomplished public speaker who shares insights on leadership, legal operations, and fundraising strategy at conferences and industry seminars.
She holds a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law and a B.A. in Social Justice from Hendrix College.
Tanya serves the Memphis community as a thought partner, board member, and advocate for community organizations. Outside of work, she enjoys life with her husband, their three teenage sons, and their two rescue dogs, Buddy and Bo. She also has a goal of visiting every SEC football stadium—even Texas and Oklahoma...eventually.
