Congratulation to our Drill Teams!

We bought five trophies home to the Cardinal Battalion.  Our female drill team placed third overall and qualifed to go to the BIG meet in Louisville, Ky on 4 April.

                  Ana, a senior, is driven to be successful.  She is a member of the school’s Rocket Team that was a national finalist.  She holds a 3.7 unweighted grade point average and scored 26 on the ACT.  She earned the Principal’s Academic Excellence Award and Distinguished Honor Roll. She won first place in Promotional Graphics at the West Tennessee Regional Technology Student Association competition.  She was a participant in the X-Plane “Fly to Learn” competition.

                  A school leader, Ana currently is president of the Technology Student Association.  She has been vice president of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), treasurer of the Art Club, secretary of the National Honor Society, junior class treasurer, and 2013 Questbridge National Match Finalist.  She was a participant this year in the FedEx Life Skills Program and a member of the Memphis Prep Program.

                  Ana won first place at the Foreign Language Fair at The University of Memphis and received the 2013 Judith G. Clabes Outstanding High School Journalist Award from the U of M Journalism Department.  She is a volunteer for the library and a soup kitchen.

Wooddale High School Aerospace Team to Compete in National Competition

The Wooddale Rockets, an aerospace team at Wooddale High School, has been announced as a finalist for the 2012 Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC). Led by Jeff Holmes, Wooddale intstructor and director of the school's aviation program, and Bill Wood, program founder, the Wooddale Rockets are the only program from the state of Tennessee or the Mid-South region to receive an invitation to the national competition. The team, which designs, builds and launches rockets, will travel to Washington D.C. on May 12 to compete against the top school aviation programs across the nation.
