Welcome to Bartlett High School. Excellence in Education since 1917

On this site at 5688 Woodlawn Avenue, in November of 1917, the Bartlett community opened a comprehensive high school and grade school on land donated to the Shelby County School Board by the Nicholas Blackwell family. With the condition that the school carry his name to honor the pioneer family of Bartlett, the school was named Nicholas Blackwell High School, and proudly sported the “B” as it does, still today. Eventually, the county school system purchased additional acreage from the Miller family, descendants of Nicholas Blackwell. On display throughout the Main Office reception area and teacher work area are historic artifacts from that early heritage. Dedicate your years at Bartlett High School to becoming a vital part of carrying forward the rich traditions of BHS.
