INTRO. TO OFFICE TECHNOLOGY OE151
Grades 9,10,11,12
An introductory course designed to develop skills in
keyboarding, computer technology, record keeping,
oral/written communication, filing and human relations. This
course is exploratory in nature to provide the student an
opportunity to become acquainted with multi-area
instructional content more comprehensive to Office
Technology I. This course cannot be taken if the student is
taking Keyboarding, or has already had Personal Typing or
Typing I. All students must join Business Professionals of
America. Membership entitles a student to participate in
leadership development conferences and competitive events at
the regional, state and national level. The lab fee of
$15.00 covers membership in the organization.

WORD PROCESSING OE242 Grades
10, 11, 12
Word processing is a course designed to develop basic
keyboarding techniques and skills. It introduces students to
the knowledge and skills needed for an entry level business
or office occupation requiring word processing skills.
Emphasis is placed on acquiring skills in personal typing;
formatting business letters, reports, forms, and tables;
developing proper keyboarding technique, speed and accuracy.
The student will use Compaq computers (IBM-compatible) to
format personal and business correspondence using an
integrated software package. This course is limited to the
number of available computers in the classroom. Word
Processing should not be taken if the student is taking, or
has taken, Keyboarding, Typing I, or Office Technology.

KEYBOARDING OE232 Grades
10,11,12
Keyboarding is designed to develop basic skills in
operating the computer keyboard. The student will be
introduced to the letter, figure, and symbol keyboard and
taught to use the touch method with dexterity and speed.
Personal and business applications will be taught to
acquaint the student with various formats for business and
personal correspondence using a simple word processing
program. The students will cover language skills such as
capitalization, number expressions, word division and
proofreading skills. This course cannot be taken if a
student has credit in Personal Typing, Typewriting, or
Introduction to Office Technology. A personal diskette is
required and may be purchased for approximately $2.00.

OFFICE TECHNOLOGY I OE251
Grades 10,11,12
A one-hour laboratory course designed for students in
grades 10,11 & 12. Learning experiences are designed to
lead to job entry employment in office or related
occupations. Content area includes production assignments
employing word processing, database and spreadsheet
applications, production keyboarding, filing procedures,
record keeping, communication, machine calculation, human
relations, mailing and other topics. Students should be able
to work independently in an office simulation. It is
recommended a student key a minimum of 30 words per minute
by touch. All students must join Business Professionals of
America. Membership entitles a student to participate in
leadership development conferences and competitive events at
the regional, state and national level. The lab fee of
$15.00 covers membership in the organization.

or Introduction to Office Technology
OFFICE TECHNOLOGY II OE355
Grades 11, 12
This course is designed to build advanced skills in
keyboarding, word processing, and database and spreadsheet
applications through realistic projects in a simulated
office environment. Areas of instruction include accounting,
bookkeeping, finance, reprographics, personnel relations,a
nd simulated office tasks. Students must be responsible,
able to work independently in an advanced level, and key a
minimum of 30 words per minute by touch. The $15.00 lab fee
provides membership in Business Professionals of
America.
