MCHS Student Handbook

EXPECTATIONS IN THE CLASSROOM

  1. GOOD CONDUCT and sensitivity to others are expected from all parties in the classroom.

  2. Standard classroom behavior includes:

    1. respect for the teacher and his / her right to teach

    2. respect for fellow students and their right to learn

    3. preparation for class each day including possession materials and homework

    4. compliance with teacher directions the first time they are given

  3. The first priority of our school is teaching and learning. Class misconduct will not be tolerated. Lack of cooperation, excessive talking, being out of an assigned seat, acting out and playing in class will not be tolerated. Violating students will be removed from the classroom and disciplinary action will be taken.

  4. Students needing to use the library must obtain a note from the assigning teacher. Students in study hall must report to study hall first to be dismissed to the library. Verification notes are returned to the teacher’s mailbox to confirm a student’s library attendance. The library is open for students during lunch period.

  5. A student agenda / hall pass is required for any student to be out of a class. Students found out of class without a pass will be considered to be skipping school and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

  6. Each teacher will allow a minimum of one-day make-up time for each day of excused absence. Students who are absent unexcused are not entitled to make up work. Completing make up work (daily grades and tests) is the responsibility of the student.
