RULES AND REGULATIONS
2008-2009
- All students are expected
to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on themselves,
their home, their
school, and their community at all times.
Students are expected to adhere to all school rules. They are expected
to follow instructions of the administration, faculty members, bus drivers,
and
other school staff. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action
by the school administration.
- Disciplinary action by the
administration may take the form of an administrative
conference, a reprimand, behavior contract, anger management sessions,
after school detention, “Thursday School”, in-school-suspension
(ISS), or out-of-school suspension (OSS) depending on the degree and
frequency of
the misbehavior. Students may also be assigned to the Millington On-Site
Intervention Program (MOSIP) for a period of up to 45 days.
- Students
and parents should be aware that in compliance with Shelby County
School Policy, the school’s authority to discipline is
not confined to activities on the school grounds or the time school
is in session. Disciplinary
action may occur as a result of misconduct that occurs beyond our
campus such as at the bus stop, in the community center parking lots,
at athletic
contests,
or at school-sponsored activities.
- Any student who
is suspended from school [OSS] is prohibited from attending or participating
in any school-sponsored
activities until the student
has been properly readmitted to school. (Suspended students may attend
summer
school with principal permission).
- Students who have
been guilty of misconduct and assigned OSS or ISS may be excluded
from representing
Millington Central High School in
extracurricular
activities or events such as homecoming, cheerleading, class elections,
and other school activities.
- In accordance with
Tennessee State Law, lockers and other storage areas, containers, book
bags, and packages
brought on to campus by students
or visitors are subject to search for drugs, drug paraphernalia,
weapons or any property
which is or is not properly in the possession of the student,
including stolen property. Vehicles parked in school assigned parking
areas (including the
civic center) are also subject to search.
- When a student has
been assigned an excessive number (12) of referrals or days of in-school-suspension
within the school year, any
additional incidents will result in alternative forms of discipline
such as out-of-school suspension
or an alternative school program.
- Students
may not have the following items at school (This list is not all-inclusive):
Hats, caps,
visors, head scarves, bandannas, do-rags,
sweat bands, metal hair picks, beepers, cell phones, pagers, headsets,

may be confiscated and the school will not be responsible for such
confiscated items. Possession of weapons, drugs, alcohol, mace, disabling
sprays,

OSS.

school official only. Medications should not be on student’s person.
