In March, tryouts are held for the Mt. Pisgah cheerleading team. Twenty-five girls will be chosen to be on the Mt. Pisgah squad. These girls must have a back handspring and a grade point average of at least 2.0. During the summer, the cheerleaders go to a UCA camp. There they learn teamwork, cheers, poms, and various building skills. The squad competes in a home pom routine, cheer, and a sideline competition. After camp there are four major competitions. These competitions are the Mid-South Fair, State, Regional, and Nationals. Preparing for these competitions consists of practicing an average of fifteen hours per week. Mt. Pisgah was the 1995, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 National Champions. In 1996, 1997, 1998, and 2000 our cheerleaders placed in the top four nationally. The cheerleaders also cheer for both the boys' and girls' basketball teams during the year. The Mt. Pisgah Cheerleaders' cumulative grade point average during the year has remained a 3.5 or above.
