The MSCS Before and After School Tutoring Program is designed to help strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills. Our tutoring program gives students individualized attention in a smaller classroom setting. Data has shown that students who participate in the MSCS tutoring program and maintain a 90% attendance rate have significantly improved academic performance. The students’ increased understanding of subject matter leads to better grades and test scores on district assessments.
Before and After School Tutoring Fast Facts:
- All schools will implement a tutoring program for the school year.
- Tutoring is open to students in grades K-12.
- 1: 8 tutor-to-student ratio (Spots are Limited.)
- Schools can choose either: A) 3 days per week for 1 hour per day or B) 2 days per week for 1.5 hours per day.
- Elementary and Middle school students will receive additional instruction in ELA and/or Math.
- High school students will receive additional instruction in EOC content (9-12).
- Tutoring space is based on availability at each site. Schools will prioritize available spaces for previously retained, overage for grade, and below and approaching (TCAP) students.
